Tertiary triad color schemes are sets of three tertiary colors that are equidistant from each other on the color wheel (120° apart, 4 columns on our hex or HSL RGB color charts). Tertiary colors are mixes of primary and secondary colors
There are two sets of tertiary triads in the RGB color model :
| #8000FF 270° |
#FF8000 30° |
#00FF80 150° |
| #FF0080 330° |
#80FF00 90° |
#0080FF 210° |
Here is a tertiary triad in the RYB model consisting of red-violet, yellow-orange, and blue-green. Because these are based on the RYB model, the distances are: 105 °, 115 °, and 140° in the RGB model
| red-violet (Magenta) #FF00FF 330° (RGB: 300°) |
yellow-orange (Amber) #FFBF00 90° (RGB: 45 °) |
blue-green (Aquamarine/ cyan) #7FFFD4 210 (RGB: 160 °) |
Here is the other tertiary triad in the RYB model consisting of red-orange, yellow-green, and blue-violet. Because these are based on the RYB model, the distances are: 85 °, 185 °, and 90 ° in the RGB model
| red-orange (Vermillion) #E34234 30° (RGB: 5°) |
yellow-green (Chartreuse) #7FFF00 150° (RGB: 90°) |
blue-violet (Indigo) #4B0082 270° (RGB: 275 °) |
